Jennifer Lawrence’s Movie Wins Top Prize at Toronto Film Festival — Oscar Alert?

Jennifer Lawrence is on a roll! She's currently filming her next blockbuster, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, while her somewhat smaller film, Silver Linings Playbook, takes top honors at the Toronto Film Festival.

Hollywood starlets, this is how it's done.

Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro also star in Silver Linings, which was directed by David O. Russell (The Fighter) and based on the novel by Matthew Quick. The film won the People's Choice Award, which is given to the feature-length film at the festival with the highest ratings as voted by the public. (Toronto’s fest doesn’t have juried awards, like some other festivals.)

Past People's Choice Award winners have gone on to great acclaim at the Oscars, including Best Picture winners The King's SpeechSlumdog Millionaire andAmerican Beauty.Other winners includePreciousEastern PromisesHotel RwandaShine,Roger & Me and The Princess Bride. So you never know. We could see Silver Linings Playbook among the Best Picture nominees this year.

What's the film about? According to IMDb, "After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own." Bradley is Pat, De Niro plays his dad and Jennifer is Tiffany.

Of course, Jenn is no stranger to the Oscars. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for Winter’s Bone. We hope to see her nominated again someday!
