Catching Fire : Unofficial casting update

Months of speculation might finally be put to rest, as the identities of Finnick, Mags, and Beetee of the "Hunger Games" series are finally close to being cast.
These integral characters make their first appearance in the second installment of the "Hunger Games" series, due in theaters Nov. 22, 2012. In "Catching Fire," Katniss and Peeta are attempting to settle down back in District 12 in Victor's Village, only to have to suddenly deal with the ramifications of the Third Quarter Quell, a horrible new game the Capitol dreams up where previous victors must re-compete--for their lives.
Finnick, Mags and Beetee are three former victors who are returning to the Games for the second time.
Finnick hails from District 4. Exuding sexuality and charisma, Finnick Odair is described in the novels as being extremely handsome and tall, with bronze-colored hair and sea-green eyes.
Sam Claflin, known for roles in "Pirates of the Caribbean" and more recently, "Snow White and the Huntsman," has been cast in the role of Finnick. Claflin made his debut screen performance with in 2010, with dual roles in "Pillars of the Earth" and "Any Human Heart." However, fans are still unsure if he will be able to pull off the raw charm that Finnick is known for. "Claflin has the good-looking side of Finnick nailed, but as for the unbridled charisma and sexual appeal… well, if it's there, he hasn't managed to show it onscreen just yet," writes Katey Rich of Cinema Blend.
Mags also lives in District 4. In a heartbreaking act of heroism, she volunteers to take the place of a much younger, hysterical woman named Annie (she will be important as the series continues), and saves Annie's life at the expense of her own. Mags babbles as she speaks, possibly due to a stroke, and is around 80 years old.
Melissa Leo, a much younger actress, was until recently considered the frontrunner to play this role. "Whether Leo will be made up to look older or the character will be aged down is unclear, but the 29-year age difference between actress and character are hard to ignore," commentsHuffington Post writer, Christopher Rosen.

Finally comes the former victor from District 3, Beetee. Described as small, wiry, with ashen skin and black hair, Beetee is known for his amazing mind. He won his own Hunger Games with an electronic trap crafted from special wire. His weakness? Need for glasses to see, and maybe a partner who has trouble speaking (named Wiress).
Small, dark haired, ashen skinned? Tony Shalhoub has been offered the role of Beetee. Notoriously known for his role in "Monk," Shalhoub's acting career has spanned a wide range of work, from "Cars" to "Wings."
"Shaloub would be the perfect foil for Amanda Plummer’s Wiress; we already know from Monk that Tony can do intelligent and twitchy," reports Halle Kiefer of VH1.
