Baftas 2014: Jennifer Lawrence wins best supporting actress for American Hustle

The 2014 Bafta for best supporting actress has gone to Jennifer Lawrence for her role in American Hustle.

Lawrence was unable to attend the ceremony due to filming commitments, but the prize was received on her behalf by the film's director, David O Russell. He read acceptance speech in which Lawrence thanked her fellow actors, writers and the director himself and celebrated the opportunity to enact "heartbreak, romance, rebirth, music and life".

She beat the much-fancied Lupita Nyong'o, who was nominated for her role in 12 Years a Slave. The award was presented by Leonardo DiCaprio who said he "was completely blown away" by the talent in the category.

Jennifer Lawrence Cozies Up to Teddy Bear Amid Michael Fassbender Romance Rumors

Many men are wishing they were Jennifer Lawrence’s teddy bear right now… or better yet, her thumb.
The Best Actress Oscar nominee was photographed yesterday walking through Heathrow airport holding a teddy bear and sucking on her thumb. Don’t read too much into the last part…given Lawrence’s sly grin as she made her way through the terminal, she was likely just playing around with the paparazzi.
The “Silver Linings Playbook” actress was in London for the BAFTA Awards where she and Michael Fassbender got the rumor mill churning after supposedly sharing a flirty night together at Weinstein’s after party.
“Michael and Jennifer were locked in conversation for a long time, he was charming the pants off her,” Radar Online reported, adding: “When Jennifer wraps up ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ she said to Michael she would love to do dinner with him.”
However, an eyewitness at the same party tells omg! their conversation looked, “friendly, not flirty.”
Michael and Jennifer at the afterparty (Getty Images)“They have been friends for a while, there is nothing more to it than that,” a source close to the actress tells omg!.
Lawrence and Fassbender, 35, met while filming “X-Men: First Class,” the same movie during which Jennifer Lawrence met then-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult and Fassbender met then-girlfriend Zoe Kravitz.
So, if you weren’t already taking the Fassbender and Lawrence rumors with a very big grain of salt, don’t forget that Lawrence and Kravitz are close friends and Lawrence hardly seems like the type of person to violate girl code by going after the “Shame” actor.
Lawrence, Hoult, and Fassbender will all be back for “X-Men: Days of Futures Past,” due out next year.
So, might the cast be gearing up for a dramatic few months of filming? Not likely.
While “Warm Bodies” star Hoult and Lawrence broke up in January after two years together, there appears to be no bad blood between the exes. They ran into each other at the BAFTA’s on Sunday and were very friendly, omg!’s source says.
